short summer stories

                                                      It's not that we don't understand

                                                      the sea in the depths,

                                                      we're not even afraid of drowning

                                                      where we don't reach the bottom

                                                       nor that the deeper we go

                                                      the distance grows

                                                       from the seabed,  

                                                       until our feet are

                                                       not searching –

                                                       they forget any certainty.

                                                      It's that when you feel  free

                                                      when as equals we confront to infinity

                                                       we'll never be able to

                                                       to be left in the shallows

                                                       playing with the sand

                                                       settled on the beach

                                                        we will not endure  again...

                                                       the  easy waves!

Why are they leaving our summers?

escape with the wings of a new day into the dream

 Time and light join in the dream. What  it has to been said, it is said.
 Time, a blow in the  gap.

I  escape  with the wings of a new day into the dream.

I gaze  at the extent of the infinite,  it will not be able to deprive me of the wings.

In this work I’m between dreams and nightmares feelings, anxiety and pain

light and darkness,  fantasy and transcendence

realism and its dissolution, far away and close by.

When we sleep we go beyond all reason. 

We can dream that we are flying, that we are making love or that we are in a wonderful journey.

Dreams have their own rules so we can find ourselves horrified  hanging on the edge of a

cliff or  that we have just escaped a bloody crash.

 In our dreams or nightmares  everything can happen...

 Our subconscious can travel to the strangest places....

I do not think of this images as a reproduction of reality , but as illusions of life, 
thoughts  and wishes. 
 I create new imaginary forms of reality, which then interact with reality itself.

  

Multicultural Athens

 

    Αθήνα, πολυπολιτισμική πόλη; Ο όρος ''πολυπολιτισμικότητα'' αναφέρεται σε  ένα πολιτισμικό και κοινωνικό δεδομένο, αυτό της συνύπαρξης ανθρώπων  με διαφορετικές καταγωγές, θρησκείες, κουλτούρες και πολιτισμικές πρακτικές. Πολλές περιοχές της Αθήνας όπως το Μεταξουργείο, τα Πατήσια, η Κυψέλη,  το Γκάζι και ο Κεραμεικός έχουν αυτά τα χαρακτηριστικά και συνθέτουν ένα μωσαϊκό ανθρώπων, γλωσσών, θρησκειών και πολιτισμών  που όμως μένει στην αφάνεια..  

    ''Ως κοινωνικό δεδομένο, η πολυπολιτισμικότητα θέτει ερωτήματα πολιτικού χειρισμού -και αυτό είναι το κρίσιμο σημείο: Πρέπει η Πολιτεία να λαμβάνει υπόψη τις εθνοπολιτισμικές και θρησκευτικές διαφορές των μελών της και να προστατεύει τις μειοψηφικές πολιτισμικές ομάδες ή οφείλει να είναι αδιάφορη απέναντι σε αυτές; Είναι δίκαιη η ίση αντιμετώπιση ή αποκλείει τους διαφορετικούς και αναπαράγει την παγιωμένη κυριαρχία μίας μονάχα πολιτισμικής οπτικής; Τα παραπάνω είναι τα βασικά κριτήρια που καθιστούν -ή όχι- μια πόλη πολυπολιτισμική με πολιτικούς όρους.''*

    Η διαχείριση του προσφυγικού ζητήματος είναι ένα θέμα επίκαιρο που μονοπωλεί τα τελευταία χρόνια τις συζητήσεις, καθώς οι προσφυγικές ροές αυξάνουν ραγδαία λόγω των πολέμων και της φτώχειας στις αραβικές, ασιατικές και αφρικανικές χώρες.

     Kατά την διάρκεια ενός χρόνου κατέγραψα με τον φακό μου τις περιοχές που βρίσκονται τα καταστήματα των  μεταναστών μαζί με καταστήματα Ελλήνων, όπου συνυπάρχουν αρμονικά. Τουλάχιστον τα τελευταία  χρόνια όπου σταμάτησαν  οι φασιστικές επιθέσεις που γινόντουσαν πριν λίγα χρονιά σε καταστήματα τους στην περιοχή του Αγ. Παντελεήμονα.  .Η ζωή στις περιοχές αυτές είναι πολύ έντονη, ένα νέο σκηνικό έχει διαμορφωθεί  τα τελευταία χρόνια με την μεγάλη έλευση  οικονομικών μεταναστών και προσφύγων.
